Our Company was incorporated as ‘National Stock Exchange of India Limited’ as a public limited company under the Companies Act, 1956, pursuant to a certificate of incorporation dated November 27, 1992, issued by the Assistant Registrar of Companies, Maharashtra at Bombay and commenced its operations pursuant to a certificate of commencement of business dated March 2, 1993, issued by the Additional Registrar of Companies, Maharashtra at Bombay.

Our Company was granted recognition as a stock exchange by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India by way of a notification dated April 26, 1993, which was subsequently renewed for a period of five years each by way of notifications dated April 6, 1998, and April 10, 2003, issued by SEBI. Subsequently, renewal of recognition as a stock exchange was granted to our Company on a permanent basis by way of a notification dated April 17, 2008, issued by SEBI, with effect from April 26, 2008.

2026
- Unique registered investor base on our Exchange crossed 130 million
- Received SEBI approval to invest in National Coal Exchange of India Limited
- Processed 21.89 billion peak order messages in a single day and 201.00 million trades were executed on March 24, 2026
- Launched brent crude oil (Platts) futures contracts based on platts dated brent benchmark of S&P Global Energy.
- Launched electronic gold receipts
- Past Risk and Return Verification Agency (“PaRRVA”) commercially launched
