The Company was incorporated in the year 1946. It commenced business in 1951 and the Company was under the management of Textile Magnate Thiru Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar. From 1.1.1975 onwards, the Company is being managed by Sri T. Kannan, S/o. Thiru Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar, and under his dynamic and efficient management, the Company implemented various modernisation schemes by replacing the old looms with latest looms.
The name of the Company was changed from Virudhunagar Textile Mills Limited to VTM Limted on and from 18.11.2004. The Company has received ISO 9002 Certificate for the Quality Management System.

The factory is located at Sulakarai, which is 5 Kms. away from Virudhunagar Town, in Virudhunagar District of Tamil Nadu on the Kanyakumari National Highway Road No.7. It has 252 Numbers of latest sophisticated Automatic wider width looms, Shuttleless Airjet looms and Sulzer Ruti Projectile looms.

The major activities of the Company are manufacturing and exporting of Grey Cotton Fabrics in widths ranging from 36” to 130”. At present the Company under the able leadership of Sri T. Kannan has embarked on value addition in fabrics to achieve better growth in financial terms.
The Company has got continuous profit making track record for a number of decades and uninterrupted dividend payout.

2012
-Company has splits its Face value of Shares from Rs 10 to Re 1

2013
-VTM have declared an interim dividend of Rs. 0.70 (Seventy paise only) per equity share of Re. 1/- each.

2014
-VTM has recommended Dividend of Re. 0.70/- per.

2020

-The Company has partially commenced production w.e.f 07.05.2020 in its production facilities, which was earlier stopped due to Covid-19 concerns.


2025

-The Company has issued Bonus Shares in the Ratio of 3:2.
