Tamil Nadu is at the southern most tip of India. Chennai is the capital of the state, while Tamil is the official language. On the second day, individuals in Tamil Nadu decorate their houses with sugarcane, banana leaves etc.

On the third bank holiday in Tamil Nadu for Pongal, individuals offer prayers to cows which are considered a sacred animal for Hindus. The cows are decorated with bells and flowers around their neck and perform aarti to seek the animal’s blessings.

The second occasion is for Dusshera. For Dusshera there will be two bank holidays in a row those two bank holidays in Tamil Nadu will not come on the same date every year Because Dusshera is celebrated as per Hindu Calendar which is a lunar Calendar. They are:

1) Saraswathi Puja (Ayudha Pooja)
2) Dussehra (Vijaya Dashami)
